The film, directed by Dangal filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, is among the most talked-about projects in Bollywood as of late. With the shoot now complete, the makers are set to release the official poster and logo of the film on July 3, 2025, serving as the first formal look at the much-anticipated mythological epic.
The cast includes Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, and Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari. The film will be released in two parts — the first is slated for Diwali 2026, and the second for Diwali 2027. While plot specifics remain under wraps, it is widely speculated that Part One will conclude with the Sita Haran episode.
The film has been in development for several years and was often in the spotlight for its scale, casting decisions, and VFX ambitions. Visual effects for the film are being handled by the Oscar-winning studio DNEG.

Producer Namit Malhotra previously announced that Ramayana would be a tribute to Indian culture and mythology, saying, “We aim to present the most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation of our history and truth.”
A teaser trailer is reportedly complete but will not be released immediately, as the film is still over a year from release. However, the official logo drop this week marks the beginning of the film’s promotional campaign.
