‘Metro…In Dino’ day 1 box office: Anurag Basu’s multi-starrer makes a decent start

The Hindi film has collected ₹3.35 crore on the opening day of the box office, according to Sacnilk.com. On the first day of its theatrical run, the overall occupancy of the movie was 17.99 per cent. Night shows had maximum response with 31.09 per cent preferring to watch it during that time of the day.

Metro…In Dino is a hyperlink romantic drama that follows stories of love, longing, infidelity, and morality in urban cities. The other actors in the movie are Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen Sharma and Ali Fazal.

The Hindu review of the film said, “In hyperlink films, establishing the character quickly is crucial, making the choice of actors all the more important. Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara make the lust/ lost confusion of today’s generation relatable. Both convey the psychological cracks and social awkwardness beneath that veneer of cocky confidence. It is the spark between them that ignites the mainstream engine.

“Then, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Ali Fazal press the gears to decide between career and family. While Ali seems to have been cast to fulfill the unrealised ambition of his character in 3 Idiots, the underrated Fatima excels in a complex role, with her Shruti reminding me of her performance in Modern Love Mumbai.”
